Audiograph is a drawing machine that uses sound energy to visualise rhythms and sound using a dedicated digital controller. It's designed and built by Studio Ricky van Broekhoven.
Inspired by the seismograph, a mechanical device that depicts subterranean colliding of tectonic plates, Audiograph is an instrument that renders sound energy into visual music by conveying sound vibration to movement in a drawing tool, like a pen. It is built from machined tooling grade aluminium parts and is electronically controlled through custom built embedded hard and software. This allows for a high degree of precision control and synchronisation to sound and music. When synced to LFO’s or sequencers of synthesizer systems, a graphic representation of patterns becomes visible. It’s also possible to synchronise to the BPM of a soundtrack.
Each plot measures 495mm in diameter and is made with black pen on white paper. Get in touch for inquiries or custom work.
